Entertainment companies have jumped on the live stream bandwagon, utilizing them for concerts, interviews, comeback showcases and most recently virtual fan meets through Google+ Hangouts. Google in particular has attached itself to K-pop, and this year has shown a more organized Hangout effort with SHINee, 2PM and Super Junior during A-pop Star Week, and with Infinite and Teen Top during promotions for their new singles. From an entertainment company’s perspective, the Hangouts provide low-cost international promotion. For Google, tapping into the Asian pop scene is a way to get a young, diverse demographic on Google+. For fans, the benefits are apparent — meeting the idols in “real time,” on a conversational level, available worldwide. Overall, these Hangouts seem like a win-win for everyone involved.(...) It’s being reported that 50 different idol members have participated in a “quiz special” for the popular MBC variety show, “Infinity Challenge.” The idols include groups SHINee, 4minute, Infinite, After School, B.A.P, Secret, Teen Top, Girl’s Day, G.NA, and more. They gathered today, April 25, to film the special which takes its format from KBS’ “Challenge! Golden Bell,” a long-running survival quiz show. This special is said to be one of the largest ever filmed for “Infinity Challenge.”
The recording for the special is taking place in two parts. The first part was filmed today and second part will be filmed next week May 2. The broadcast date for this special has not been decided yet.
Interestingly, for today’s shoot the idol singers made their way directly from the airport after coming back from filming for Mnet’s “M!Countdown” special in Taiwan. “M!Countdown Ni Hao Taiwan” airs tonight. Stayed tuned at Soompi for updates!
It’s been easy to forget that Infinite hasn’t come back in almost a year; Sung-gyu and Infinite H‘s first mini-albums have filled that gap very nicely. But, more Infinite is never an unwelcome prospect, and Woollim‘s boys are back with their 4th EP New Challenge, lead by title track “Man In Love” (AKA “A Man In Love”).
After the melancholic trio of “Be Mine,” “Paradise,” and “The Chaser,” a lighter release was much-needed. “Man In Love” is that release, replete with sunshine, smiles and lots of cuteness. For newer fans of the group, “Man In Love” is a chance to become acquainted with a side of Infinite that had been before showcased in “She’s Back” and “Nothing’s Over,” as well as Christmas single “Lately.” The track has served the group well so far, having just had their first music show win for the year on SBS’Inkigayo.
However, as much as “Man In Love” is familiar, there are parts which stand out… and not necessarily for the right reasons.(...) Read the rest of Is Infinite Falling With “Man In Love?” (1,054 words)
What’s up Seoulmates? Glad to see you’ve come back for our weekly round-up of music show faves! This week, both SHINee and B.A.P had their goodbye stages and while we’re sad to see our boys go, there is definitely some sleep to caught up on. ZE:A5 made their debut with “The Day We Broke Up” and EvOL made their return with “Get Up.” This week, I thought the ladies seemed on their A game, leaving the boys behind in the dust, but I’ll let you be the judge of the performances gathered this week!

Even though Stardom Entertainment is currently embroiled in legal issues with Block B, the ladies of EvOL are still out to rock it. The female rappers in this group have a refreshing amount of talent worth taking note of.(...) Read the rest of Best of Weekly Music Shows 3/25 – 3/31 (260 words)
In the spirit of true comraderie, singer Seo In Guk showed netizens proof that he had cast his vote by text message for K.Will on live music program "Inkigayo" post-"Music Core" epic fail. According to sources, K.Will held the trophy for only a couple seconds before he passed it on to idol group Infinite due to the mixup in counting up all the votes cast by text message during the live broadcast.
On April 21, Seo In Guk wrote on his me2day, "I just cast my vote for K.Will on 'Inkigayo'! He didn't ask me to do this" and shared a photo of himself pointing to his phone. In hopes that K.Will might receive a trophy for "Love Blossom" since having had his hopes dashed publicly the day before, Seo In Guk set out to rally support from netizens to cast their votes for the singer on "Inkigayo."
However despite Seo In Guk's commendable efforts, K.Will unfortunately lost by one vote to PSY who took the "Inkigayo" trophy home this week for "Gentleman."
There was lots of movement in the top 10 this week along with a surprising new No. 1 song.
Third time is a charm for Davichi as they were finally able to capture the top spot this week with the “Be Warmed.” The song is the third single from their second full album “Mystic Ballad.” Red hot rapper Verbit Jint has a big assist on this song. He not only wrote the song for Davichi but also lent his voice as the featured rapper. Verbal Jint has already appeared on many hit songs so far this year, both on his own hits and as featured rapper for other singers.
We have five new songs in the top 10 this week!
K.Will’s“Love Blossom,” settles in at No. 2 this week.Davichi’s “Be Warmed” barely edged out the song by five points for first place. Despite debuting at No. 25 last week, “Love Blossom” was actually the favorite to be our new No. 1 song this week.
This song is the title track of Part 2 of K.Will’s third album. Part 1 was released last year with “Please Don’t…” and was able to reach the top of our chart. “Love Blossom” is of the urban soul genre, showing yet another side of K.Will’s talent. This song will be the favorite again to climb to No. 1 next week if it can hold off one new song this week (more on that below).
The other four new songs are all at the bottom part of the top 10.At No. 7, hip-hop duo Geeks scores their second straight top 10 hit with “How Are You” featuring male vocalist Harim. As a relatively unknown underground hip-hop group last year, Geeks scored their first top 10 hit with Sistar’s Soyu on the song “Officially Missing You, Too.” The song stayed in the chart for many weeks. “How Are You” moves up 16 spots into the top 10 this week. It is a mid-tempo jazz style R&B track with rapping by Geeks.
At No. 8, moving up 16 spots this week, is the third part of the “Ma Boy” trilogy by Electroboyz. In the past, all three has become top 10 hits .“Ma Boy 3” features Nana of After School. Brave Brothers and members of Electroboyz were responsible for composing and penning this song. Unlike the first two versions which were upbeat songs, “Ma Boy 3” is a mid-tempo song that blends Nana’s sweet vocal with Electroboyz’s rapping.
Sophomore duo 15& is back in the top 10 this week with “Somebody,” and is also the highest debut of the week at No. 9. Unlike the ballad sound of their debut track “I Dream,” “Somebody” is a more up-tempo song that shows off their vocals. The music video features a parody of K-Pop Star, where ParkJimin was discovered.
Moving up 19 spots to No. 10 is “Goodbye” from Hong Dae Kwang of Super Star K4. He is the second Super Star K4 member to hit our chart, but the first one to hit the top 10. Winner Roy Kim’s“Passing By” reached No. 12 late last year. “Goodbye” is the preview single of Hong Dae Kwang’s debut mini-album and features Sistar’s Soyu. The title track “Far Away” should debut our chart very soon.
Psy’s “Gentleman,” the much anticipated follow up song to his worldwide hit “Gangnam Style” was also recently released. Due to the timing of release, “Gentleman” only debuts at No. 17 this week, but will certainly battle for the top spot next week.

PSY‘s “Gentleman” takes the win this week on Inkigayo! It beat out K.Will’s “Love Blossom” and Davichi‘s “BeWarmed” by almost double the points!
Due to being busy with international promotions, PSY has yet to perform the song on the music programs and did not appear on the show today. Fellow YG labelmate Lee Hi accepted the award on his behalf.
