10 K-Pop Idols Who Are Considered the Center of Their Group

Almost all idol groups have a “center.” The “center” is a position – and often times, a title – reserved for the member that would literally be in the middle of the group during promotional activities, photo/video shoots, and more. Because of their popularity and/or looks, a particular member is always placed in the center, getting the most spotlight. As such, he/she is the member that first comes into mind that comes into mind when the group is mentioned.

Infinite’s Sungkyu Ranked #2 in Middle School and Was Part of the Student Council

Infinite‘s Sungkyu has recently entered the status of being one of K-Pop’s “Um Chin Ah,” which literally translates to “mother’s friend’s son,” and is used to describe someone who excels in nearly everything.

On the episode of “Radio Star” that aired on March 6, Sungkyu was a guest along with Nancy Lang, Muzi and Sam Hammington. These guests were grouped together for their unique image on broadcast.

During the episode, the emcees stated, “Surprisingly, Sungkyu is sort of an ‘Um Chin Ah’ style,” and “He ranked #2 in middle school and was even part of the student council.”

Sungkyu proceeded to give a proud smile and said, “It’s true. I was even popular with the ladies back then.” Then the emcees playfully retaliated, “We never asked about girls,” which made Sungkyu put on a bewildered face.

The emcees then asked, “What type of work did you do in the student council?” Sungkyu answered, “The most important thing I’ve done was school uniform supervision.”

In Korean schools, there are strict regulations about school uniforms. For example, girls’ skirts cannot be too short or boys’ pants cannot be too tight.

Previously, Sungkyu talked about his feelings for 4minute‘s HyunA as well as being hurt by fellow Infinite member L, regarding his solo album.

Infinite’s Woo Hyun and Indie Singer Lucia Release MV for Duet Track “Cactus”

Infinite's Woo Hyun and indie singer Lucia's music video for their upcoming duet track "Cactus" has been released.

The two singers worked along with Epitone Project on this track, which was officially released on February 27, at 12PM Korea time. 

The music video was directed by Jo Gyungil and features a short drama movie of a man trying to leave and a woman who's been hurt. Using split screen effects, it delivers their story respectively and explains the emotional lyrics effectively.

"Cactus" is the second project single from "Re:Code," which is being planned and produced by Loen Entertainment. The project concept is to take tracks from skillful underground artists and arrange them in a way to encourage mainstream exposure. Previously a collaboration between Sistar's Soyu and hip hop artist Geeks on the song "Officially Missing You" had great success.

Infinite’s Sungkyu Admits He Was Hurt by L’s Comment about His Failed Solo Album

The most recent episode of MBC "Radio Star" featured comedian Sam Hammington, artist Nancy Lang, UV's Muzie, and Infinite's Sungkyu for its "Strange People" special. In this episode, Sungkyu talked about how he was disappointed that his solo album was not so successful. 

He even said that he is well aware of his fans' "policy" of not searching his album online to cover the fact that his album failed to garner much attention. He added, "When L's sitcom 'What is Mom' was cancelled, he was so disappointed. We drank together to forget about the bitter failure and L told me, 'At least we failed together.' I was dumbfounded when I heard that. I was only trying to console him but instead, I was…damaged." 

Sungkyu explained that he was hurt by L's comment at the time, but the two eventually made up in the morning as they were nursing their hangover together.

Infinite’s Sungkyu Is the Newest “Variety-Dol,” Talks About Past Misunderstnading with HyunA

Infinite‘s Sungkyu recently spoke about his honest feelings toward 4minute‘s HyunA, which earned him the status of the newest top “variety-dol.”

On February 27, Sungkyu appeared as a guest on MBC’s “Radio Star” and said, “In the past, I showed interest to HyunA at this one TV show but it was taken out of context.”

So the emcees gave him a chance to clear himself up and Sungkyu began to leave a message for HyunA right away.

Sungkyu said, “As I fan, I lov- no no, as a fan, I am a huge fan,” stumbling all over the place, which made everyone laugh.

He continued, “I didn’t act that way with bad intentions,” and “It seemed like HyunA was viewing me as a sasaeng fan. I was really upset because it seemed like I said that on purpose on air.”

MC Kyuhyun asked, “If HyunA asks to meet you for real, what will you do?” Then Sungkyu answered again in a bumbling way, “I will take care of the matters on my own for my own future and for the fans, I will do a good job… in secret… well…”

Throughout the whole episode, Sungkyu has shown his honest but random and weird answers and stories, which charmed and captivated the viewers.

Meanwhile, other guests for this episode include Nancy Lang, Sam Hamington and UV‘s Muzi.
